It’s national Boyfriend day and whilst this man stopped being my boyfriend a few years ago, I’m going to use the opportunity to big him up! He runs our TikTok account and posts here on the odd occasion when I ask him to! He’s the man I call when I need ideas and the man who listens when I’ve had a bad day. He runs to the boutique late at night if I’ve left something there or comes with me when I tell him I need help moving something around. He’s also the reason I can offer last minute and late night appointments and never complains when our plans change last minute. I’ve referred to him in the past as the MPV of The Bridal Store and I stand by that! An “off the peg” dress are is what we call our dresses that are ready to be taken away today! Typically they are ex trying dresses we have decided to sell or in some cases, extra warehouse stock the designers are selling off. Off the peg dresses can be current season or past seasons that you can no longer get hold of.
Buying off the peg means you can often buy a designer dress cheeper. Here at The Bridal Store our off the peg dresses are always at least 50% off, sometimes up to 75%. You can also take the dress away with you today, or we can store it until your wedding making it a perfect choice for theirs with less time to play with before their wedding!

1. Steam the dress the night before your wedding. Steam can ruin your hair, makeup and flowers, so make sure your dress is steamed the night before and the steamer won’t be needed on the day of your wedding! If you have no choice, have someone steam the dress in another room away from you getting ready.
2. Remove your bra, socks and any wrist hair ties 2 hours before the wedding. Nothing will ruin those photos more than seeing bra lines or sock lines in your photos!
3. Leave more time than you think to put your dress on! Corsets can take time to lace up, skirt fluffing takes time to get perfect and your photographer is going to want to take all the photos.
What other tips would you give?

Where exactly are we? I think we’re pretty easy to find, but then I’m here every day! We are on the corner of Boulevard, opposite Proud Bar next to saxons!
There is a car park in Sovergin shopping centre or street parking out front, pay for this parking at the machines (or via the MiPermit app). There is also a limited amount of free parking in the surrounding streets.

Attending your first bridal appointment can be a daunting experience. You’re stepping into the unknown and personally I like to be more prepared than that! So what can you expect from an appointment at The Bridal Store?
Firstly, as you enter you’ll be welcomed and directed to the shop floor viewing area where we will sit and chat about your wedding, your vision and what you’re looking for in a dress. Then we start looking through dresses! Together we’ll pick 3-4 to try on and you’ll be directed through to the dressing room. Don’t panic though, you will get to try on more than 3 dresses! As you react to the dresses, we will pick new ones that we think you’ll like! Maybe a different shape or maybe something similar to what you’ve just tried on with some tweaks. Finally you’ll be given the opportunity to retry your favourites.
When you’re ready to say ‘yes to the dress’ we will pop open a bottle of Prosecco (or non-alcoholic alternative) take some photos, there’s a little bit of paperwork and you’ll leave with a gift bag!

The shop floor is no exception! The layout wasn’t fully working for us, whilst I loved the showing area in the natural light, photos were hard to take, so today we moved everything round again!

It’s a new week and we are celebrating all of our brides who said yes! Congratulations to you all! I am so excited to welcome all of our new brides this week!
(Anyone else as terrible as I am at remembering to whip out my camera and take photos!)

Have you ever hear the term ‘hanger appeal’? I feel like I use it in almost every appointment! Trust your consultant when they tell you, dresses (and clothes in general) weren’t made for hangers, they were made for bodies. If a dress doesn’t look good on the hanger, this means nothing. If your consultant thinks you should give a dress a go based on other things you’ve been trying, try it on! You might just love the way it looks on you! We want you to find that perfect dress as much as you do, we will never intentionally give you something you’ll hate!

The ‘ber’ months mean cosy blankets, pumpkins, hot chocolate and golden leaves. Autumn is in full swing here and it is my favourite season! Let me know if you’re an autumn, spring, summer or winter person?

We love a fitted dress, but did you know, there's more than 1 shape of fitted dress! A column dress hugs the hips and slowly tapers back out, a fit and flare dress comes in under the bum showing off your amazing curves and a fish tail comes in at the knees before dramatically showing off its skirt! Are you a column, fit and flare or a fishtail person? Can you work out the which is which here? Let me know in the comments! (OK, so maybe I was unfair choosing a dress with a split dress for the fit and flare!)
